I remember being taught how to smock at school, and at home we made our own dresses. As a family we did a lot of tapestry work. So stitching has always been a part of my life. I have done a lot of work for our local church – Banners, Altar Cloths, a Nativity Set, Decorations for the Christmas Tree – though all this was destroyed when the church was burnt down. I have also made stoles for our clergy. I joined a local embroidery group, in the early 1980s and was then persuaded to join the NEG. I have since served as Treasurer and Secretary to the committee.
