I gained an “Art in the Community” degree, following other qualifications with textile, embroidery and design links.
I give a variety of lectures, including the “History of Embroidery”, “The Straw Hat Industry from 1800”, including my collection of raffia and straw hats from round the world, and “The Bayeux Tapestry”. I make raffia and straw hats and textiles to commission.
I teach a variety of subjects in talks and workshops in textile and stitch techniques, including canvas work, felt making and my own wheatsheaf filling stitch. I have recently begun making glass and clay beads fired in my own kiln.
